The theory

Disclaimer
I made this build after getting frustrated with the current meta relying on DoTs. I did not record my abyss run, as I usually don't record such videos, but wanted to share a build with the community, especially those who are sick on relying on elemental DoTs. If you need video proof, sorry all I have is a screenshot right before I got lazy to continue the run. But this build was able to clear 248 easily, and it's easy to build if you're in the late-game since it doesn't require you to breed for neutral.

Concept
Those in the late-game would know by now that damage mitigation makes all our damage deal 1s the higher we go. So I realised that was no point in caring about 'damage'. Instead, this build focuses on 'How can I generate as many 1s as quickly as possible?'... and I arrived at this build.

Attributes and trait
As mentioned, damage has no meaning in the current state of the end-game content.
So I went with getting as much recuperation for cooldown and agility for fire rate and speed. Feel free to change them up and replace with Vitality instead for more tankiness. I just like being zoomy and being able to use my ultimate and skills more often.

Abilities
Nimiod's Current Chain primary shoots sparks that chain rapidly, helping with crowd control in the messy high-level abyss runs, no aiming required.

Subzero Node increases our Speed and Fire Rate.

Ultimate used whenever facing bosses or using it as a clutch.

I chose Plasma as my primary element as I didn't care for bleed or any of the DoTs. It's annoying to maintain them, and having Plasma means I can melt the other monsters without worrying about compatibilities. But honestly, use whatever you want, I just found Plasma to be an easy pick. Just make sure whatever element you use, you have a mutation perk that lets you heal with it easily.

Perks

Feasting: You get back as much health as you deal damage with plasma, which heals you back up rapidly with how fast we're going to be attacking, even if they're just doing 1s. If you chose not to go with plasma, just make sure to choose and element that has a healing perk to replace Feasting.

Exorcism: Hit Mark Trigger

Mark of the Storm: Will literally rain 1s for you, and we'll be generating storms rapidly with our attack speed.

Catalyzers
We'll focus on getting fire rate and armor here. Damage and crits have no meaning in the late-stage levels.

Armor and health helps us tank the random stray shots that nukes our health.

Fire rate + some speed is nice for moving around faster and dodging attacks.

Note: If you intend to follow this build and have Armored Core and Max health catalyzers, make sure you insert Armored Core first, then Max health. It changes the amount of health you get at the end, don't ask me why, no idea.

Conclusion
I tried making several builds with the other Voidlings, but Nimiod feels to be the easiest to play with its kit -

  • You can basically hover and avoid ground AoEs
  • Fastest pew-pew without aiming
  • Abilities make for fantastic CC

But feel free to try this build with other Voidlings if you want... but remember, the goal here is to generate as many hits as quickly as possible. Have fun!
